A new editorial from Chico Velo Cycling Club’s executive director calls for safety improvements that can help ensure the wellbeing of cyclists along roadways in Chico, California. The opinion piece was prompted by two recent tragedies in which cyclists were killed in hit and run incidents. Although the author believes that strict punishments should await those whose actions contribute to a cyclist fatality, she also believes that infrastructure betterment can keep such deaths from occurring in the first place. She points out that separated bike lanes, the Three Foot law, and other types of measures can save lives, and she wants to see more efforts like these enacted in order to further improve safety.
