A San Leandro, California-based company has announced the recall of a type of chicken sausage due to the potential presence of an undeclared allergen. The recall was issued by Wycen Foods in regard to Chinese style chicken sausage that was only available in San Francisco. 809 pounds of this product may contain MSG (monosodium glutanate) without the label outlining its presence. Although the products are set to expire after around a year, the worry is that some people may elect to freeze the product for longer. The unlisted MSG is thought to be the result of an ingredient reformulation that failed to trigger an alteration to the label. Persons in possession of the product who fear they may be allergic are urged to get in touch with the company. No reactions have been reported at this time.
