A public service announcement seeks to get teenagers in the state of California to put down their phones while at the wheel of a vehicle, but what distinguishes this particular campaign from others is the unique partnership that made it possible. The PSA resulted from the combined efforts of the Fremont-based California School for the Deaf and the California Highway Patrol. After discussing with the CHP their views on texting and driving, the school students put together and filmed a script that highlights the importance of refraining from texting while at the wheel of a vehicle. A spokesperson for the school said that texting has become a normal part of life for today’s teenagers. Hopefully, efforts like this can ensure that part of life doesn’t extend to the driver’s seat.
