A new report out of Bakersfield takes a look at the threat posed by improper heating maintenance. Because persons in Bakersfield and other environs in California are used to dealing with warm weather that rarely necessitates a heater being turned on, dangers tend to pop up once it does come time to start the unit. The worry is that these items, once they fall into disrepair, can contribute to a buildup of carbon monoxide that can be deadly if not corrected or if persons inside the residence don’t evacuate at once. To fight this threat, citizens are being advised to seek out maintenance from a qualified source and to invest in a carbon monoxide alarm that can be tested on a regular basis.
