Package carriers are going to be quite busy over the coming weeks as online shoppers have products delivered to them in droves. Unfortunately, there’s another category of person who also knows there’ll be a slew of packages waiting at the front doors of homes around the country: thieves.
If you order an item, then wonder weeks later why it never came to your house, you could be the victim of theft. Don’t let this happen. A series of tips have arrived from the San Bruno Police Department that aim to help you protect your packages from being taken.
Perhaps the best thing you can do is sign up for all the bells and whistles that go along with delivery. Get a signature confirmation if you have the option to do so, as the item cannot be delivered to an empty home if this is the case. Insurance is another great idea, especially for those expensive products you can’t afford to lose. Text alerts and package tracking allows you to see where an item is, potentially letting you slip out of work quickly so you can retrieve the item.
Of course, you may just want to skip the headache and have the item shipped to your work. Clear such a thing with your boss of course. Or, if you trust you neighbors, you might ask them to sign for or pick up any packages.
