The Training, Research and Education for Driving Safety program of the University of California San Diego has unveiled a new initiative that they hope can counter distracted driving. Thanks to help from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the California Highway Patrol, and the state’s Office of Traffic Safety, the program is inviting the owners of businesses throughout San Diego to submit to an educational effort that will stress the dangers of and need to get away from distracted driving. The hope is that submitting to this class will allow employers and employees to steer clear of those distracting habits that can be dangerous on the road. Persons who agree to attend the class will receive instruction on current state laws and learn about those whose lives have been affected by cellphone driving.
