K1600 GTL and K1600 GT motorcycles of the 2012 model year are being recalled by BMW of North America because of a possible crash risk. The recall affects 2,475 vehicles that could suffer from the engine control unit not getting the right throttle valve control signal under certain circumstances. When this occurs, the engine may not be able to reach appropriate speeds, causing it to lose power while in transit. This can contribute to a crash if a rider is not ready for the condition. Once the recall starts at some point this month, owners will receive alerts from BMW and a software update will be offered by dealers in the hope of taking care of the problem.
