Undeclared Egg Risk Leads Chula Vista Company to Recall Sweet Spots

Posted on December 17, 2013

A candy called Sweet Spots is being recalled by a company based in Chula Vista, California because of the potential for the items to contain egg protein without the label relating the presence of that substance.  As a result, persons allergic to egg could undergo a serious reaction should they consume or come into contact with the items.  The recall, which was issued by Bee International, affects two ounce packages having a lot code of either 2335613 or 2158613.  The recall was prompted by an investigation by the Food and Drug Administration which was itself prompted by a consumer incident report filed with the agency.  Concerned persons are being asked to return the items if they would like to obtain a refund.
