More than 5,000 Kenworth trucks of the 2014 model year are being recalled by Paccar Incorporated because of a problem that could potentially diminish the ability of other drivers to see the vehicles. These trucks have an STT lamp that is reportedly in danger of shrinking, and when that occurs, the mounted retention ring meant to hold that component in place may not be able to carry out that function. This would bring the vehicles out of compliance with federal regulations because there’s a chance that persons sharing the road with those trucks may not be able to see the light cast off from the lamp as necessary, an issue that could create a crash risk. Although there’s no word on when the recall will start, new lamps can be obtained from dealers once Kenworth eventually begins the process of contacting affected parties.
