On November 18, 2015, ABC7-Los Angeles broadcast a follow-up report on Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP’s lawsuit against the California School for the Deaf in Riverside alleging the rape of a 13-year-old student by an older student. The Riverside boarding school for the deaf filed its response to the allegations earlier this month, denying that the school failed to supervise the students at night, and said they knew nothing about an alleged bully organizing a so-called “school sex club.”
PSBR attorney Candice Klein spoke with Eyewitness News reporter Miriam Hernandez, telling her the school has evidence that in 2013 a small gang was forcing students to perform sex acts.
“These boys have testified already in the investigation that they had interacted with each other and had these exchanges over a hundred times,” Mrs. Klein says. “You just have to wonder where are the teachers? Where is anyone?”
PSBR filed the lawsuit against the State of California, the California School for the Deaf and the student who assaulted the 13-year-old boy in October 2014.
