Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP has filed a civil lawsuit on behalf of the widow and mother of Eric Stein, who tragically died after a speeding Los Angeles County Fire Department crew bus unsafely passed on a two-lane highway and collided with his vehicle.
On July 31, 2015, Stein and his wife Ksenia Rozen were driving eastbound on Mullholland Highway to the wedding rehearsal of Stein’s brother in Agoura Hills. As the couple’s Ford Fusion neared the venue, Stein slowed down and had begun to make a left turn into the driveway when an LACFD crew bus approached from behind at a high rate of speed. The driver of the crew bus unsafely and negligently attempted to pass on the left but instead struck the driver’s side of the couple’s vehicle. As a result of the accident, Stein sustained fatal injuries and his wife was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center with two broken ribs, a cheek fracture and severe pain to her neck and back.
The couple were newlyweds, married only six months prior to the collision.
“This tragic and preventable incident was caused by the blatant reckless driving of the fire department crew bus driver in this case,” said attorney Spencer Lucas. “Preliminary investigations have revealed that the crew bus was being driven at extremely high speeds while passing vehicles on a windy mountain road. This horrific incident has devastated the Stein family.”
