Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP attorneys Brian J. Panish and Jesse Creed have been named 2022 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) by the Daily Journal. The 26th Annual CLAY Awards is awarded to a select group of attorneys throughout the state “for achievements with a significant impact on public policy, the law, the profession, or a particular practice area.”
Mr. Panish serves as Lead Trial Counsel in the Southern California Gas Leak Cases where he led a team of lawyers in obtaining a settlement of up to $1.8 billion from Southern California Gas Company and Sempra Energy for thousands of plaintiffs who suffered as a result of the 2015 gas well blowout at the Aliso Canyon Natural Gas Storage Facility. This is the third CLAY Award recognition for Mr. Panish, having previously received this recognition in 2019 and 2013.
Mr. Creed served as a member of the trial team whose work was instrumental in obtaining the settlement as well as instrumental in obtaining a court order requiring Southern California Gas Company and Sempra Energy to produce hundreds of thousands of withheld documents, finding the oil and gas defendants’ violation of multiple court orders was willful and in bad faith.
