PSBR partner Robert Glassman has been named among the 2023 Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 by the Daily Journal. The annual publication recognizes the best California lawyers under the age of 40 with an individual profile highlighting their career, recent successes, and provides insight into their practice.
Mr. Glassman’s profile highlights two of his most recent results — an $8 million settlement from Los Angeles officials for a 29-year-old woman who was broadsided by a speeding LAPD vehicle in pursuit of a stolen car in downtown, and a $2 million settlement from Sacramento officials for the adult daughter of a motorcyclist who killed when a police officer made an illegal u-turn in front of him, causing his death. In each of those cases, the officer was also criminally charged.
In early 2023, Mr. Glassman was also honored to receive the CLAY Award for his work in securing a $15.75 million settlement for the mother of Adilene Carrasco, a 13-year-old student who died days after the school grossly midhandled her asthma attack on campus.
“Our conscious strategy was to settle so that we could insist on nonmonetary terms beyond a big number,” Mr. Glassman said. Along with local school reforms, Mr. Glassman has been advocating for SB 283 also known as “Adilene’s Law” which would amend the Education Code to require school districts to implement a comprehensive asthma management plan. He testified in support of the bill earlier this yeart at the state Assembly Education Committee in Sacramento.
