Wrongful Death Case:
SHERMAN V. COURREGE
Verdict:
$25.5 MILLION
Case Synopsis:
Attorney Brian Panish obtained a $25.5 million jury verdict for the survivors of a family of three killed by a drunk driver on St. Patrick’s Day. The adult siblings suffered the loss of their parents and their 15-year-old brother who were hit by a drunk driver on their way home to Mammoth from Bakersfield, California. The drunk driver, Tracy Michael Courrege, also died in the crash; his two passengers were the only survivors of the accident. Courrege’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash. After the verdict, the family stated that they hoped the verdict would make people stop and think about what happened to their family before they get behind the wheel drunk.
