Fisher-Price Infant Swing Recall Lawyers
Request Free ConsultationOn October 10, 2024, Fisher-Price issued a recall of all 2 Million+ models of their Snuga Infant Swing due to suffocation hazards.
The Snuga Swing has been sold in the US, Mexico, and Canada since 2010. Between 2012 and 2022, there were five deaths in infants ages 1-3 months old, caused by suffocation in the swings when they were used for sleeping. In most instances of death, additional bedding had been added to the swing and infants were unrestrained.
The company said the swing should never be used for sleeping, and if bedding materials are added to them, the headrest and body support inserts may increase the risk of suffocation. Consumers are now being urged to immediately remove both the headrest and body support insert before continued use of the swing. Fisher-Price reiterated that the swing should only be used for awake-time activities. The Consumer Product Safety Commission further urged consumers that if a child falls asleep in the swing they should immediately be moved to a firm, flat surface to sleep.
The recalled product, the Snuga Swing, is a swing designed for infants that swings back to front and side-to-side. It has two seat back positions, and folds up compactly for storage. There are a total of 21 different models of the Snuga Swing, all with the same design and minor differences in toy accessories and fabric colors.
