Prescription medications should help, not hurt. But sometimes, pharmaceutical companies willfully ignore dangerous side effects, rush medications to market without testing them thoroughly, or allow them to become contaminated. Panish | Shea | Ravipudi LLP attorneys have served as leaders in the field of litigation over unsafe pharmaceutical drugs, recovering millions of dollars for people who were irreversibly injured by following their doctors’ orders.
Brian Panish has served as a member of two executive committees in major litigation over unsafe medications. Nationally, he is part of the plaintiffs’ steering committee for litigation over L-Tryptophan, a genetically engineered amino acid sold as a dietary supplement in the 1980s. Contaminated batches of L-Tryptophan were later discovered to cause eosinophilia myalgia syndrome, which caused 37 deaths and more than 1,500 permanent disabilities. Over 1,100 lawsuits are pending against the supplement’s manufacturers.
Panish has also served on the plaintiffs’ executive committee for lawsuits in California over diet drug fen-phen, which the FDA asked manufacturers to withdraw from the market when it was discovered to cause permanent heart valve damage.
The firm brings extensive product liability expertise to the table. Its Los Angeles drug injury attorneys are consistently recognized for excellence in consumer law, including repeat nominations for Trial Lawyer of the Year from the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys Association of California, and Trial Lawyers for Public Justice.
