Investigation Still Underway
The cause of the Monument Fire remains unconfirmed, with an investigation still underway. Preliminary reports have stated that the fire was initially started by a lightning strike. However, the official cause has yet to be confirmed. The powerlines and power poles in the fire zone are owned and controlled by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), a utility company with a long history of causing wildfires. PG&E was behind the deadliest fire in California’s history, the Camp Fire, which was caused by an electrical transmission line that was over 100 years old.
If an investigation shows that PG&E or another entity played a role in starting the Monument Fire, that party may be financially responsible (liable) for victims’ related property losses, injuries, medical bills and more. Our Monument Fire lawyers can go up against any defendant in pursuit of fair and full financial compensation for wildfire victims. We have experience with negligence-based wildfire lawsuits, strict liability lawsuits, insurance claims, government-sponsored compensation programs, PG&E’s Fire Victim Trust, inverse condemnation claims and other options for financial compensation for California wildfire victims.
