Recent Facts on the Santa Rosa Wildfires
The North Bay wildfires have devastated the largest city in California’s Redwood Empire, Wine Country, and the North Bay – Santa Rosa. Firefighters are still working to achieve 100% containment of the fires in Santa Rosa. Fire victims crowded evacuation shelters and emergency rooms earlier in the month. Today, victims are left to pick up the pieces amid lingering smoke and poor outdoor air quality. The latest data on the fires in Santa Rosa are as follows:

- Fires hit Fountaingrove in Santa Rosa particularly hard. Fires here caused tornadoes that flipped vehicles and downed trees. Coffey Park was also a badly hit area. Officials allowed residents to return to these neighborhoods on October 21st.
- Santa Rosa is reporting that fire and smoke has destroyed at least 1,800 structures within the city limits. About 1,300 of these are in Coffey Park and more than 500 in the Fountaingrove area.
- Buildings affected include the restaurants at 3746 Hopper Drive, Cardinal Newman High School, and Coddingtown Mobile Home Park.
- There have been 23 reported deaths in Sonoma County. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has released 10 names of the deceased so far. They range in age from 57 to 95.
- A wildfire is devastating, able to consume entire buildings in just minutes, leaving little to no time to grab belongings and evacuate to a safe location.
