Sulphur Fire

The Sulphur Fire (Mendocino-Lake Complex) is one of the 18 fires in the intense firestorm that burned 2,207 acres and overtook much of northern California’s Wine Country starting on October 8^th. About the Recent Firestorm

In the days leading up to the catastrophic firestorm in Wine Country, the National Weather Service warned residents that conditions were prime for wildfires. Dry land, high winds, and low humidity levels all increased the risk of fires breaking out. The night of October 8^th, the first fires sparked. Officials still do not know the cause of the fires, but there is an investigation underway that focuses on PG&E, the California utility company. All together, the 2017 October wildfires in California burned more than 200,000 acres, killed at least 43 people and firefighters estimate at least 8,400 structures destroyed by the fires, making these firestorms the deadliest in California’s history.
